Dave Felix

Vice President of Business Development

At SolaREIT, our mission to accelerate the clean energy transition is powered by a diverse team of passionate and talented individuals. Each team member is crucial in delivering innovative financing solutions to solar and battery energy storage developers and landowners. As a minority and women-owned business, we know that the unique contributions of every person on our team drive our collective success.

This month, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Dave Felix, our Senior Vice President of Business Development. Dave’s unique perspective, expertise, and dedication to our mission make him invaluable to our team.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

My education is in engineering, but for nearly 20 years, I've focused my career on developing and financing clean energy projects, including solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. I’ve always thrived in environments where innovations are deployed to accelerate the transition to clean energy. The challenge of bringing disruptive technology to market and seeing it make a tangible impact is what drives me. My engineering background gives me a strong technical foundation, but the strategic and financial aspects of project development have kept me passionate about this industry from the beginning.

Tell us about your journey and what inspired you to join SolaREIT?

When I learned about SolaREIT, I was immediately drawn to the company’s approach to leveraging land—a resource often overlooked—in new and creative ways to enhance the value for developers and project owners. I love how, at SolaREIT, we take something as seemingly benign as land and turn it into a new, innovative, more efficient, and accretive asset for developers and project owners.

What has been your most rewarding project or experience at SolaREIT, and why?

The most rewarding part of my experience at SolaREIT has been working with our incredible team. The people are genuinely our most vital asset. We may be a small team, but we’re mighty—filled with upbeat, talented individuals who bring their A-game every day. The collaborative spirit and shared commitment to our mission make our work so fulfilling. Seeing this team effort lead to tangible results for our clients and the planet is deeply rewarding.

How do you see the future of renewable energy, and what role do you think SolaREIT will play in that future?

The future of renewable energy is incredibly promising–this is not a sector that is slowing down. Of course, there are challenges, and I’ve been consistently impressed with how developers can overcome them.  I see SolaREIT playing an integral role in the project development and financing strategies for developers. We are the reliable partner that developers need to help them get projects to PTO and maximize profitability and liquidty.

What is something that has surprised you about working at SolaREIT?

What has surprised me the most is the sheer breadth of developers, projects, and markets we’re involved with and how these are constantly changing and growing. There’s never a dull moment here—every day brings new challenges and opportunities. The dynamic nature of our work keeps things exciting and ensures that we’re always learning and adapting. It's been fascinating to see just how much the landscape can evolve quickly and how SolaREIT is positioned to navigate and capitalize on these changes.

What are your hobbies outside of the office?

Outside of the office, I’m an avid cyclist—I love all forms of cycling, whether road biking, mountain biking, or exploring new trails on an e-bike. I’m also passionate about stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, and hiking, especially with our three kids. Being outdoors and staying active is really important to me—it’s where I recharge and find new inspiration.
